Audi is now the most recognized new age luxury car brand in India. Audis have a kind of aura around them which are rarely seen anywhere else. Keeping this in mind Audi unleashed its little big monster on the Indian markets recently. Q5, as the demon is named, is aimed at the compact luxury SUV segment in India which is already seeing some major competition. At a glance the Q5 might seem like a mini Q7 but being in there makes all the difference. Join us for a quick check on this little beast.
Engine:
Q5 is available in two engine variants. Thepetrol engine is a 208 Bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder, TFSI engine whereas the diesel engine is a 236 Bhp 3.0-litre V6. Both the engines are mated through a 7-speed S tronic transmission to a permanent all wheel drive system. The V6 diesel can rise up to 225kmph while thepetrol engine can go till 222kmph. The acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes only 6.5s for the diesel while it takes 7.2s for the petrol variant.
Design And Comfort:
The Q5 is a strikingly good design. The car is really compact (its actual dimensions being 4629mm in length and 1880mm in width)for its segment. This helps it to easily maneuver through Indian traffic stricken roads and parking is also easy. But the Q5 gives an illusion of being bigger and looks canningly similar to its big brother Q7. The front is adorned by the Audi-characteristic gaping grill and the daytime running LED lights adjacent to the headlights. LED tail lights are available as options on the well designed rear ends.
Interiors:
There’s plenty of room for four adults and still room for 540 litres of luggage, which is virtually trebled with the rear seats down. The rear seats fold and recline, and there’s the option of runners that gives them 100mm of fore and aft travel. A folding front passenger seat is also an option. The front console is carried from A4 and is easy to operate and nice to look at. There are many advance d features like Audi’s MMI (Multi Media Interface) system, which uses a dashboard screen and control knob to control audio, navigation, suspension, and other functions, three- zone climate control, navigation system with real-time traffic information, Keyless entry and starting, Rearview camera and Power tailgate. Audi Drive Select, which allows for driver control of engine, transmission, steering, and suspension settings is optional. The interiors actually cut you off from the external world and give a felling of peaceful comfort exclusive to your Audi.
Ride And Handling:
The ride is excellently firm due to the amazing Quattro four wheel drive technology. In fact the ride is so good that it feels more like a hatchback than an off-roader with the thrills still there. There’s immense grip, solid body control and nicely weighted steering. The Quattro for wheel drive assures that you have maximum grip and comfort throughout the ride by distributing the load and power on all wheels proportionately to the type of surface and the speed.
Safety: The safety features available include ABS, Traction control, Antiskid system, Curtain side airbags, Front and rear side airbags. The body is highly rigid and can withstand most of the collisions with great protection for the passengers. Variants, Price And Color: The two variants are available in six attractive colours. The prices are Rs. 40, 92,268 for the 2.0 TFSI Quattro version and Rs. 44, 54, 620 for the 3.0 TDI Quattro version. |
